A versatile artist, Miko YAU is a Music student at The University of Hong Kong with a full scholarship called 2018 Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship by The HKSAR Government. During her high school years, she was awarded in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (xylophone solo) and Speech Festival (English solo speaking). She received conditional offers from CUHK Department of Music and HKU Faculty of Arts in 2018 before the release of HKDSE public exam result. During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded Talent Development Scholarship 2020 and HKU R.C. Lee Hall Alumni Association Scholarships 2021-2022. She has been an associate percussionist of Rhythmaker, engaging in projects like school tours in collaboration with Premiere Performances of HK. She has been attending James Boznos’ percussion studio for years, who is the Principal Timpanist of HK Philharmonic Orchestra. Her music was on-air at ViuTV, RTHK and TVB in different programs. She was invited by a Brazilian composer Anderson Matos to record his composition “Peace with Ukraine” in March 2022 with percussionists across the globe.
Other than percussion, Miko loves different kinds of performing arts. She was invited to be a pianist of 2022 Tiffany Lau Vocal Performance Academy Annual Concert “Green Children” and participated in an immersive drama production by Reframe Theatre in 2022 and a contemporary dance production by Passoverdance in 2021. As a percussion tutor in a few primary schools and secondary schools, she is dedicated to cultivating music talents in Hong Kong.
