Sunny Ho Tze-fai is an accomplished musician with a multi-faceted career in music. Currently, he is embarking on a new role as a General Musicianship teacher in the Junior Music Programme at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). In addition, he freelances as a percussionist with renowned orchestras including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, and Opera Hong Kong.
Ho’s achievements include securing first place in the Xylophone Solo Secondary School Category at the 65th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and attaining third place in the final of the Parsons Music Scholarship for Wind, Brass, and Percussion Instruments at the 68th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. As a pianist, he won the 2nd Prize with the First Class Award in the 19th Hong Kong Asia Piano Open Competition (Liszt Free Choice Class). Ho has successfully completed Trinity LTCL exams in both percussion (with distinction) and piano recital.
His performances have been featured on RTHK32’s “The Works” and the Tai Kwun “Afternoon Series 2020” Concert. Notably, he has performed with the Li Biao Percussion Group at the 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival, participated in the 2018 Asian Youth Orchestra Asia Tour, and contributed to the Hong Kong International Airport’s 20th Anniversary celebration concert.
Ho holds a Master of Music Degree in Conducting for Western Orchestra from HKAPA, during which he participated in masterclasses with esteemed conductors Jaap van Zweden and Lio Kuokman. He earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Percussion with first-class honors from the same institution and was recognized with the Best Academic Achievement Prize from the School of Music. He has received numerous scholarships, including the prestigious 2019 HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship.
