Sharon Fung is a Hong Kong-based music educator, as well as percussionist, pianist, conductor, and composer. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), she holds both a Bachelor of Music (with Conducting Pathway) and a Master of Performance with Distinction, in which she studied under Simone Rebello, Paul Turner, Paul Patrick, Liz Gilliver, Andrea Vogler, Le Yu, Emil Kuyumcuyan, and Kai Strobel. She also studied conducting with Mark Heron.

In recent years, Sharon was awarded the 2023 Yamaha Music Europe Foundation Scholarship and the 2024 RNCM Gold Medal. As a chamber musician, she was also the winner of the 2024 Chris Rowland Chamber of the Year with her percussion trio, Trio Trilogy, which became the first ensemble in RNCM history to achieve full marks in the chamber music examination. She has also attained the Trinity ATCL exams in both percussion (with distinction) and piano recital. 

As a performer, Sharon is active as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral percussionist. She is also a vibraphone specialist with a particular interest in contemporary repertoire, sound exploration, and extended techniques. Alongside her solo work, she performs with orchestras and chamber ensembles in both the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, including the percussion trio Trio Trilogy, the percussion duo Impropercussion, and Sakura Drops Duo, a percussion and euphonium/baritone horn duo.

Sharon has been invited to share her musical journey and personal experiences through schools and various media platforms, including interviews with TVB Think Big in 2021, the RTHK Podcast, and Apple Daily’s Appleseed in 2020. As a musician with Amniotic Band Syndrome, Sharon has developed an adaptable and analytical approach to performance and teaching, strengthening her creativity and problem-solving skills.

Beyond music, Sharon enjoys graphic design, video production, making coffee, crochet, and percussion craftsmanship, including mallet-making, wrapping, and restoration.
